The All-New Audi Q7: Redesigned and Ready to Conquer the American Road

The 2017 Audi Q7 has arrived at Audi Mentor, and Cleveland-area drivers are in for a treat.
Audi has successfully completed a second revision to the Q7 in 2016. The all-new 2017 Q7 is lighter, leaner, and boasts a number of new specs that make it worth a test drive.
  Leaner and Meaner
Audi Q7s hitting the Audi Mentor lot now have shed almost 700 lbs. through a combination of composite materials (mostly aluminum), a new chassis, and a lighter, more compact differential.
Additional changes to the frame and specs include a new four-wheel steering system and adaptive air suspension. These improvements allow for a tighter turning radius at low speeds, more stability at higher speeds, and an all-around smoother ride for driver and passenger. 2017 Q7s have a platform and frame shared with other Audi sedans, rather than a traditional SUV frame.
The 2017 Q7 hasn't completely lost touch with its off-road roots though. All-wheel drive is standard, with a 40:60 bias to the rear. However, you can shift as much as 70% of torque to the front-wheel drive system or as much as 85% to the rear. There are also two off-road modes that allow you to go off the beaten path with your 2017 Q7, with a ground clearance that can be raised to 9.6 inches.
  Lighter, and More Fuel Efficient
Audi improved the fuel efficiency of the Q7 courtesy of two approaches. The lighter materials and leaner frame cut weight, but fuel-efficient engine options help bring down the cost of ownership. The new 2017 Q7 is available with a 3.0-liter TDI diesel engine capable of producing 272 horsepower, or a 3-liter supercharged V6 engine with 333 horsepower and 324 ft-lbs of torque. The latter engine might be fuel efficient, but it's no slouch. The 3-liter V6 is a super-charged beast that can go 0 to 60 MPH in 5.7 seconds and tow up to 7,700 lbs.
  Refined Luxury
Audi went back to the drawing board with the 2017 Q7 to bring clean lights and a sleeker look to the 2017 Q7 in an effort to match its improved performance.
On the inside, the new Q7 comes standard with seating for seven and a panoramic sunroof. The infotainment center in the vehicle boasts an 8.3-inch screen that offers 3D Google maps and Apple's CarPlay interface. Best of all, the driver and passenger can interact with the infotainment system at the same time.
The driver has the option of selecting one of two virtual cockpit displays. Infotainment mode allows you to view maps, phone lists, and playlists, while the normal view offers you the standard dashboard visuals you're accustomed to in any car. Meanwhile, the passenger can plugin to CarPlay and share Instagram photos or listen a podcast without interrupting navigation directions.
New Safety Features are Coming to America
The new 2017 Audi Q7 will feature imported safety specs available on European models of the Q7 already. For example, as you follow a GPS route on the navigation system while on cruise control, the car anticipates the upcoming exit and slows your vehicle for the off ramp. The new Q7 also has built-in traffic jam assist that can follow traffic on its own at speeds up to 38 MPH. Audi achieves this miracle with radar and video cameras that follow lane markings and guide the vehicle. There's even a subtle ding to let you know traffic has eased and you need to take over full control again.
Last but not least, the all-new Q7 also has a predictive pedestrian alarm. The system alerts you to the presence of pedestrians around your vehicle, and the warning indicators vary by speed. When you're moving slower, a series of clear alarms go off to alert you to the presence of pedestrians. At higher speeds, the avoidance system becomes more forceful and applies the brakes to stop your car completely.
